A veterinarian euthanized a dog after it was found with a gunshot wound along Route 88 in Millsboro Friday afternoon.

East Bethelehem Township police were contacted by Fredericktown Butcher shop at about 2 p.m. about the injured animal and took it to Clover Farm Veterinary Service, where it was determined the animal had suffered too many internal injuries to survive.

Police said the small brown and white husky, named Ziva, was old and owned by Dennis Slagle, the owner of Bee Graphix in Fredericktown.

Police asked anyone who might have witnessed the shooting to call 724-377-1851.
