North Strabane police investigated two separate crashes Thursday that sent three people to the hospital.
Police said they responded to a two-car crash on Route 19 at Mansfield Road about 11:45 a.m. when Ryan Mitchell Casaday, 23, of McMurray, attempted to make a U-turn and he struck another car. Police said the driver of the other car, Raymond Shandik, 70, and his passenger, Marie Phillips, both of McDonald, were taken to Canonsburg Hospital with moderate injuries. Casaday, who was not injured, was cited for making an illegal U-turn, police said.
At 3 p.m., police responded to a rear-end collision on Brownlee Road where a car driven by Nathan Ritter, 18, of McMurray, crashed into the back of a car driven by Andrea Loether, 62, of Eighty Four. Loether was taken to Canonsburg Hospital complaining of neck pain, police said.
