State Reps. Nick Kotik and Jesse White today announced they will host a public informational meeting to examine the problem of heroin abuse in local communities and discuss ways to combat the issue and find solutions.

The “Community Conversation on Heroin Abuse,” which is free and open to the public, will take place May 14 at Chartiers Valley High School, 50 Thoms Run Road, Bridgeville. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the event will begin at 7 p.m.

Kotik and White said they are hosting the event in conjunction with the state Attorney General’s Education and Outreach Office, which will feature presentations surrounding heroin abuse and details on successful programs that have been put into place in other communities.

A question-and-answer session and a discussion on how to tackle the problem on a community level will follow. A similar event was held in March at Burgettstown High School.

For more information about the event, call Kotik’s office at 412-264-4260 or White’s office at 724-746-3677.
