A Butler County man faces several charges after he was found last month lying face down on the back seat of his vehicle that was parked on the ramp to Interstate 79 at the Southpointe exit in Cecil Township.

State police said Ryan Michael Mason, 25, of Cranberry Township, had a blood-alcohol level more than 4 1/2 times the 0.08 limit presumed for intoxication when he was found about 8:30 p.m. April 9 in his vehicle. The engine was running.

The trooper tried pounding on the doors and windows to wake Mason, but had no luck so he opened the door. The trooper indicated in court documents that Mason was incoherent when awakened.

Police found an open bottle of Firewater Cinnamon Schnapps on the front passenger seat. The trooper also found marijuana and paraphernalia, including a pipe and grinder.

Mason was charged Tuesday with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, unattended vehicle on private property, public drunkenness and having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing June 10 before Senior District Judge Jay Dutton.
