Motorcycle rider killed in Independence crash

A Washington man was killed Thursday night when his motorcycle crashed into an oncoming vehicle on Route 844 near Seminary Road in Independence Township.

Joseph O. Barni, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene after his eastbound motorcycle crossed the center line and struck a westbound vehicle just before 8 p.m. Thursday, said Washington County Coroner Tim Warco. Barni was not wearing a helmet.
