Two men were injured in a one-vehicle crash early Saturday in Blaine Township that police believe may have been alcohol-related.

The driver, Grady R. Voight, 23, and passenger, Jake C. Folle, 22, sustained serious injuries in the 3:03 a.m. accident on Taylorstown Ridge Road near Newman Road, according to state police in Washington. Information on their hometowns was not immediately available.

Police said the two were flown by helicopter to Pittsburgh hospitals, but spokeswomen for UPMC-Presbyterian and Allegheny General hospitals said neither name was on a patient list.

Police reported detecting a strong odor of alcohol on Voight and found partly empty beer cans inside and outside the vehicle.

The driver, according to the report, was heading eastbound at high speed when he lost control of the vehicle, striking a large tree and causing it to roll onto the passenger side 15 feet from impact. They said Voight was ejected through the windshield and that firefighters had to extricate Folle from the vehicle.

State police said a search warrant will be prepared for Voight’s medical records.
