JOHNSTOWN (AP) – Authorities in Western Pennsylvania say a man accused of having killed a mother shortly before Mother’s Day told investigators that the shooting followed an argument.

Twenty-five-year-old Kyle Rodgers is charged in Cambria County in the shooting death of 20-year-old Linsey Wolfe late Saturday night in Dale.

The Tribune-Democrat of Johnstown reports that authorities allege in a criminal complaint that police found Rodgers standing over the victim’s body, and he “said he shot Wolfe and that he was sorry.”

Investigators said the couple argued and Rodgers took a handgun from underneath a pillow on the bed and went downstairs, and Wolfe pushed him and the gun discharged. Officials said a child was present in the home but was uninjured.

Rodgers is charged with criminal homicide and aggravated assault.
