The state Department of Transportation later this month will be displaying construction plans for a lane-widening project for Interstate 70 between the south junction and Glyde/Eighty Four exit.

The construction project includes widening the median and outside shoulders, lengthening and reconfiguring the lanes leading to the south junction ramps of I-79 and realigning Wilson Road, which runs parallel with the interstate.

The preliminary design plans will be displayed from 5 to 7 p.m. May 29 at the South Strabane No. 2 Fire Department at 172 Oak Spring Road. The public is invited to attend and offer feedback and input on the plans.

The construction plans are part of the I-70 corridor improvement project to modernize the highway. Other projects PennDOT is planning include the diverging diamond interchange on I-70/79 at the Murtland Avenue exit, along with improvements to the Bentleyville and Monongahela/Centerville exits in the upcoming years.
