Man charged in sexual assault
CHARLEROI – A man from the state of California already in custody on charges he sexually assaulted a Charleroi girl is facing similar charges involving a second girl.
Charleroi Regional police last week brought another case against Ricky Gutierrez, 21, of Sacramento, accusing him of having consensual sex with a 15-year-old Charleroi girl April 27 at a residence in the 200 block of Ninth Street, court records state.
Police called in the girl and her mother May 2 to discuss those allegations after an officer arrested Gutierrez that day on charges he gave a 14-year-old girl liquor before inappropriately touching her about 9:30 a.m. April 11 in a bedroom in the same residence.
The 15-year-old girl believed Gutierrez was 18 years old until he purchased liquor April 11 while they were hanging out in a local park, the affidavit states.
The girl confessed to the encounter May 2, telling police the two met in March at a local fast-food restaurant and that Gutierrez later told her he had fallen in love with her, the record shows.
The new charges of statutory sexual assault, indecent assault and corruption of minors were added May 14 when Gutierrez was scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing in the first case before District Judge Larry Hopkins.
Hopkins continued the hearing, transferred the cases to Central Court and raised Gutierrez’s bond from $500,000 to $1 million. Gutierrez is to appear at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Central Court.
