Two sexual assault cases against a man from the state of California will proceed to trial.

Ricky Gutierrez, 21, of Sacramento, is accused of having consensual sex with a 15-year-old Charleroi girl April 27 at a residence in the 200 block of Ninth Street and giving a 14-year-old girl liquor before inappropriately touching her at the same residence April 11.

On Wednesday, Gutierrez appeared before District Judge Curtis Thompson for a preliminary hearing, where his charges were held for trial.

Deputy District Attorney Traci McDonald said several charges were amended during the hearing. Gutierrez now faces several counts each of statutory sexual assault, indecent sexual assault and corruption of minors.

According to court records, the 15-year-old girl told authorities she believed Gutierrez was 18 until he purchased liquor April 11 while they were hanging out in a local park. The girl told police she and Gutierrez met in March at a local fast-food restaurant and Gutierrez later told her he had fallen in love with her.

Gutierrez remains in the Washington County jail on $500,000 bond.
