PITTSBURGH (AP) – Megabus officials said Pittsburgh remains a hub for the discount bus company, even though low ridership has caused the company to cut 13 of the 19 destinations that Pittsburgh once served since the company named the city a hub three years ago.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said Philadelphia, State College and Harrisburg remain in-state destinations, while Megabuses are also still running to New York, Washington, D.C. and Morgantown, West Virginia.

The low-cost carrier ended service to Cleveland and Toledo, Ohio, and Detroit and Ann Arbor, Michigan, earlier this month because of low ridership. Before that, Megabus cut service to nine other markets in Ohio, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, as well as Toronto, Canada.

Megabus spokesman Mike Alvich said the company could restore service to those cities or other markets if demand increases.
