Jefferson-Morgan to graduate 59 seniors
JEFFERSON – Jefferson-Morgan High School will hold commencement at 7 p.m. June 4 in the school auditorium for 59 members of the Senior Class of 2014.
Duncan Alcorn will deliver the valedictorian’s address, and Kraig Davis will deliver the salutatorian’s address.
Alcorn’s topic is The Past, while Davis will speak on The Future.
Alcorn, son of Charles and Francesca Alcorn, Waynesburg, will attend Washington & Jefferson College and major in mathematics. He also plans to attend graduate school in engineering.
He was a member of the drama club, academic quiz bowl, Science Olympiad and envirothon.
He received the Howard J. Burnett Presidential Scholarship valued at $19,000 a year, renewable with a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.1 or higher.
He also received the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award for outstanding high school science students.
Davis, son of Richard and Cindy Davis, Rices Landing, will attend Kenyon College to pursue a degree in modern language.
Davis was president of the National Honor Society and foreign language club and vice president of student council. He was a member of the marching band, concert band, county band and the symphonic band at Waynesburg University. He also was a member of the county chorus, drama club and the Leo club.
He received the Kormuth Award for Achievement, Keystone Achievement Award, Tri-County Guidance Counselors Scholarship and the U.S. Marine Corps Semper Fidelis Award.
