FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) – A northwest Ohio philanthropist has died less than two months after announcing he would leave about $20 million to a community foundation, with much of it going to the collegiate basketball program he followed with devotion for six decades.
A spokeswoman for the Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation said 79-year-old William Frack of Findlay died Wednesday at a nursing home.
The Courier in Findlay reported the donor, known as Bill, announced his gift for the community foundation in April.
Three-fourths of it was directed to the Bowling Green State University men’s basketball program. Estimates suggest that endowment could generate about $675,000 a year.
The remainder of the gift was for addressing homelessness and domestic violence.
Frack said he made his money through investments.
