State police have arrested a Burgettstown man and obtained a warrant for a Washington man who allegedly acted as his lookout during burglaries of homes in Amwell, Blaine and South Franklin townships last month.
Eric James Pollock, 24, of 1067 Route 18, Burgettstown, was arraigned Monday before District Judge Ethan Ward on burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, conspiracy and criminal mischief charges. Police also obtained a warrant for the arrest of Antonio Heath, 30, of Washington, on charges of receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit theft and burglary.
Pollock was taken into custody Oct. 22 and his vehicle impounded. Washington police received a report of an erratic driver and stopped him in the parking lot of Foodland on Henderson Avenue. Jewelry and pill bottles with other people’s names on them were found inside his car, along with syringes, police said.
Pollock was placed in Washington County jail on a state parole violation. Police said he gave a statement admitting to his involvement in the three burglaries. He allegedly told police Heath would knock on doors, and if there was no response, Pollock would force open a rear door to a residence while Heath remained as lookout.
State police obtained a warrant to search the car. Police said a McGuffey class ring found inside the car tied the pair to the Oct. 21 burglary of a home in the 100 block of Walker Road in Blaine in which the class ring and other jewelry were stolen. Other jewelry in the car had been reported stolen Oct. 22 by a resident of the 2500 block of Alamae Lakes Road in Amwell. That jewelry, valued at $15,000, had been sold at a pawn shop.
Police said some of the prescription medication found in the car was stolen Oct. 22 from a home in the 1000 block of Deerfield Road in South Franklin. The homeowner did not realize anything was missing until he learned from state police that the medication was found in Pollock’s vehicle.
Ward set Pollock’s bond at $75,000. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 17 before Ward. Pollock also faces a Nov. 13 hearing before District Judge Gary Havelka on drug charges filed by state police.
