A Charleroi man was arrested Monday night after he allegedly stabbed another man in the head at a Fallowfield Avenue bar.
Richard Howard Straley, 48, of 700 Fallowfield Ave., was charged by Charleroi Regional police with aggravated assault, simple assault with a deadly weapon, harassment and disorderly conduct for allegedly stabbing William Jackson twice in the head while the two were at the Myford Hotel and Bar, 700 Fallowfield.
Police were called about 10:15 p.m. for a report of a stabbing and found Straley outside the bar on the Seventh Avenue side. When asked where the alleged victim was, witnesses told police Jackson was walking up Seventh.
Jackson was found in the 600 block of Washington Avenue. The front of his T-shirt and hooded sweatshirt were soaked in blood. There also was blood running down the left side of his head and neck. Police could see a puncture wound near his left ear and another at the back of his head.
Jackson told police his attacker was staring at him at the bar.
When Jackson asked the other man, identified as Straley, what his problem was, Straley accused Jackson of ordering his beating the previous night. Police said the two reportedly pushed one another, and when Jackson turned around, Straley stabbed him.
When police asked Straley how many times he stabbed Jackson, he allegedly responded, “Obviously not enough.”
Jackson was checked by emergency medical workers but refused transport to Mononghaela Valley Hospital for treatment.
Straley was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 17 before District Judge Larry Hopkins.
