WAYNESBURG – Plans for the construction of townhouses and condominiums at the Greene Cove Marina in Jefferson Township were presented for review Monday to the Greene County Planning Commission.

Route 88 Development Inc. has proposed building 36 housing units at the marina off the road that now provides access to the marina’s recreational vehicle camp.

The first phase of the project will include the construction of 12 housing units: two buildings housing four condominium units each and four townhouses. The second phase will consist of the development of an additional 24 housing units.

The property, which covers 41.32 acres, is owned by Route 88 Development. The units will be sold or leased while the property will remain under the ownership of Route 88 Development, according to a narrative prepared for the project.

The planning commission reviewed the project and OK’d plan acceptance and preliminary approval.

In other business, the commission granted conditional final approval to plans by the Dana Mining Co. of Pennsylvania to construct a new portal for its 4 West Mine off Watkins Run Road in Perry Township.

The 22.39 acre site is on the east side of Interstate 79 about a mile north of the Mt. Morris interchange. An air shaft and hoist house and a 16,100 square foot bath house will be built on the property.

The facility will be used only for workers entering and leaving the mine. No ventilation fan will be installed at the site and the company plans to plant shrubs and trees to create a light and noise buffer between the portal and the nearest residence.

To receive final approval, the company must receive approval from the state for a GP-5 permit needed for a utility line crossing under a stream.

The commission also granted conditional final approval to CNX Gas Co. for the McQuay II compressor and metering station off McQuay Road in Center Township.

The project will involve construction of a new compressor pad and metering and regulation equipment pad. To receive final approval, the company must submit an approved storm water plan for the site’s access road.

The commission also granted conditional final approval to Universal Belting Resources for additions to its building in the Paisley Industrial Park.

The company plans to construct two additions to the existing 20,000 square foot building. The addition on the north side of the building will be 3,600 square feet in size while the addition on the east side will be 3,900 square feet in size. The additions will be used for storage and office space. Final approval is conditioned on approval of a storm water management plan.

The commission also approved plan acceptance and preliminary approval to plans by Rice Poseidon Midstream LLC to construct a meter station off Petit Road in Center Township.

The project will include construction of a 1,240-square-foot prefabricated steel building on a concrete foundation. The station will be used to deliver natural gas to an existing pipeline located off Petit Road.
