A Donora man scheduled for a preliminary hearing Thursday on charges he assaulted a woman over several hours in her Carroll Township home was charged in the robbery and beating of an elderly woman in Rostraver last month.

Rostraver police Wednesday charged Lamont Dixon, 35, of 50 S. McKean Ave., with robbery, unlawful restraint, aggravated assault, theft, receiving stolen property and simple assault in the home invasion Oct. 21 in which three men tied up a 91-year-old woman in her bed and allegedly stole $928 and $20,000 in jewelry.

Police said they immediately focused on Dixon as a suspect in the robbery after investigators found his girlfriend’s payroll sheet inside the home. His girlfriend, Bobbi Drdul of Charleroi, was charged with hindering prosecution and receiving stolen property in that case, court records show.

Police said three men wearing masks forced their way into the elderly woman’s home on German Street and shoved her to the floor, causing a serious neck injury, while one of them held a hunting knife to her chest. Jewelry, gold coins and cash were stolen during the robbery.

The men also threatened to kill the woman’s dog if she did not tell them where her valuables were located, police said.

Dixon, who already was in Washington County jail, accused of beating a Carroll Township woman in her home Sept. 19, was transferred to Westmoreland County authorities Wednesday. District Judge Charles Christner arraigned Dixon in the Rostraver home invasion case and set his bond at $1 million.

Dixon faces a preliminary hearing today before District Judge Mark Wilson in the Carroll Township case. Police said he assaulted that woman for more than four hours by kicking her in the legs, choking her until she nearly lost consciousness, smacking her in the ear and banging her head on the floor several times.

He was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats, unlawful restraint, reckless endangerment and harassment, according to court records.
