Principal: Boy thrown from bridge happy in school

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) — A principal says a 6-year-old boy found dead after his mother told police she threw him from a bridge on the Oregon Coast was happy in school since starting kindergarten in September.

Kelly Beaudry, principal of Crestview Heights School in Waldport, said Wednesday that London McCabe was filled with laughter and loved to sing.

She says the school will be dedicating a wall in his memory. Samples of his work with be posted and teachers can bring students to share their feelings.

The state medical examiner’s office says an autopsy was being conducted on the boy found dead Monday in Yaquina Bay in Newport.

His mother, Jillian McCabe, is in jail awaiting trial on charges of aggravated murder, murder and manslaughter. She has not entered a plea.
