Center Twp. man facing assault charges
ROGERSVILLE – A Center Township man was charged with sexually assaulting a teenager.
Carl Mason Warnick, 34, of 554 Stone Hill Road, Rogersville, was arrested Wednesday by state police on two counts of aggravated indecent assault, two counts of indecent assault and harassment. Warnick is also charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct for a related incident the same day.
Police said the teen contacted them after Warnick allegedly pushed her and inappropriately touched her while the two were at her house. The girl told police Warnick threatened to kill her if she told anyone, according to a criminal complaint filed before Greene County Magisterial District Judge Lou Dayich.
Related charges were filed against Warnick following an interview at the state police barracks in Waynesburg. Trooper William C. Brown said he advised Warnick he was under arrest for indecent assault. Brown told Warnick to stand and put his hands behind his back at which time he allegedly stood, placed a hand inside his pocket and produced a blue folding pocket knife. Brown said Warnick opened the knife with one hand and attempted to cut himself. The knife was taken from Warnick and he was placed under arrest.
He is currently being held in Greene County jail on a combined $20,000 straight cash bail for the two separate incidents.
Warnick’s preliminary hearing on both cases is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday before Dayich.
