WAYNESBURG – The Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce is finalizing the lineup for the 2014 Downtown Waynesburg Christmas Parade set for 2 p.m. Dec. 6. The parade is underwritten by Greene County Tourism.

Miss Rain Day 2014, Morgan Voithofer, and the chamber’s 2014 Distinguished Service Award winners, the Rev. Dr. Donald P. Wilson, Ed and Sandy Zeglan and members of the Patriot’s Dream Riding Association, will be the parade’s grand marshals.

Deadline is Nov. 20 with a $10 fee per unit. Late registration entries will be accepted before Nov. 25 with a $20 fee per unit. No entries after Nov. 25 will be accepted.

Anyone who did not receive an application can call the chamber at 724-627-5926 or visit www.waynesburgchamber.com to register.

Trophies will be awarded to the top three floats, along with three honorable mentions and a top prize of judges’ choice. All entries should portray the Christmas spirit. Float judging will take place prior to the start of the parade. No live Santas are permitted on any unit as he is the guest of honor at the conclusion of the parade.

Several streets not associated with the parade will be blocked from noon to 3:30 p.m. Route 19 traffic also will be detoured during those hours. The route on High Street from McCracken’s Pharmacy to the First Baptist Church also will be closed to all traffic starting at 2 p.m.
