A Donora man is one of two people charged in the robbery of a Westmoreland County woman.
Brandon Danilchak, 27, of 500 McKean Ave., and Gregory D. Howard, 46, of 331 Third Street, Monessen, were charged Thursday with robbery, criminal conspiracy, unlawful restraint, aggravated assault, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and simple assault. Two other men are suspected in the robbery. One remains unidentified. The other is Lamont Dixon, 35, of Donora, who already is charged in the Westmoreland County case and also is accused of assaulting a woman in her Carroll Township home Sept. 19.
In the latest case, the men are accused of robbing an elderly woman Oct. 21 at her home in the 300 block of German Street, West Newton. About 6:40 a.m., police say Danilchak knocked on the door to the woman’s home and pretended to be a furniture deliveryman. When she answered, the men then forced their way inside and pushed the woman onto the floor. She suffered a back injury. Police say the men then threatened her with a knife and ransacked her home looking for money. They also threatened to kill her dog until she told them where a safe and its key were located, according to court documents.
The men stole money and jewelry totaling $5,000, police said. They bound the woman’s hands and legs and ordered her not to move or make any noise until they left, the documents said. They then fled in a white Chevrolet Malibu.
Warrants have been issued for Danilchak’s and Howard’s arrests. Dixon remains jailed on $500,000 bond.
