Robinson man charged in vehicular assault
A Robinson Township man is in custody on accusations he struck a man and woman with his vehicle while they were involved in a loud argument early Saturday outside a Midway tavern.
McDonald police arrested James Margerum, 52, of 1240 Second St., on a string of charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol, following the assault about 2:30 a.m. along St. John St.
Police said Margerum stepped outside a nearby club during the disturbance and ordered Michael Silla to make his girlfriend shut up.
Margerum then got into his vehicle and drove it into Silla, of McDonald, causing a fracture to his wrist near Windsor’s Tavern at 113 St. John St.
Silla’s girlfriend, who was not immediately identified, suffered a minor injury, but refused medical treatment.
Silla later sought treatment at a hospital, police said.
Margerum is charged with aggravated assault, accidents involving death or injury, making terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, simple assault, DUI and failure to stop and render aid. He also was cited with reckless and careless driving.
Margerum is in Washington County jail on $100,000 bond set by District Judge Robert Redlinger.
