HARRISBURG (AP) – Tom Wolf is turning to a former state environmental protection secretary to serve as his chief of staff.

Gov.-elect Wolf announced Monday the choice of Katie McGinty, who finished fourth in the spring primary and then led Campaign for a Fresh Start, a political action committee that actively supported him and other Democrats.

The 51-year-old McGinty headed the Department of Environmental Protection under Gov. Ed Rendell. She’s also worked for Al Gore in the Senate and in the White House under President Bill Clinton.

She’s a native of Philadelphia who currently lives in the suburb of Wayne with her husband and three daughters.
