$1M ticket sold by grocer in Finleyville
A Powerball ticket worth $1 million was sold in Washington County for last Saturday night’s drawing.
The ticket correctly matched all five white balls, 9-19-33-38-54, but not the red Powerball, 15, to earn a $1 million second-tier prize, less 25 percent federal withholding.
The Giant Eagle store on Route 88 in Finleyville receives a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Store owner Archie Allridge said no one claimed the ticket as of press time. Allridge, who also owns a Giant Eagle in Uniontown, said everyone is abuzz with the news.
“I’m in my Uniontown store, and they’re even talking about it, so that’s a good thing,” he said.
Allridge said lottery ticket sales have been especially high at the Finleyville store. The prize must be claimed and the ticket validated before the winner can be identified. Powerball winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.
