WAYNESBURG – Warden Harry D. Gillispie, told members of the Greene County Prison Board Wednesday the jail was inspected Aug. 5 by the state Department of Correction and the facility met or exceeded all standards and earned full compliance.

In a letter to Commissioner Blair Zimmerman, chairman of the prison board, Shirley Moore Smeal, executive deputy secretary, said, “Warden Harry Gillispie and the Greene County prison staff deserve credit for their efforts in operating this facility in accordance with statewide correctional standards. There are no deficiencies or citations to report.”

Gillispie said because the prison met or exceeded expectations, the prison will be exempt from the normal one-year inspection cycle. “Our next inspection will be sometime in 2016,” he said.

The Greene County prison continues to house inmates from Fayette County, and Gillispie noted Fayette owes Greene County $35,550 for housing inmates in October.
