Hospital foundation’s 25th Harvest Ball a ‘big success’
More than 240 people attended the Greene County Memorial Hospital Foundation’s 25th Annual Harvest Ball at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort Saturday.
On hand were caricaturists, handwriting analysis specialists, JNB Photography and live music provided by Protégé.
Jay Hammers, president of the board of directors for the foundation, spoke briefly about the history of the past 25 years and thanked many key individuals who were vital in sustaining the event and growing it into what it is today.
First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Greene County served as event sponsor and was represented by Vice President Chuck Trump, who touched on First Federal’s 90-year history of supporting Greene County, and mentioned the bank, which currently has assets exceeding $900 million, began in 1924 with a mere $33,000.
At 10 p.m., just prior to awarding the auction items, John Mariner, president of the auxiliary of Southwest Regional Medical Center, presented the foundation with a $10,000 check to be used to continue the nursing tuition assistance award program.
Lastly, the $16,000 worth of auction items, such as autographed guitars by the Eagles and Rolling Stones, a membership to Lone Pine Country Club and an autographed Ben Roethlisberger jersey were awarded.
