Salary board approves hiring of assistant district attorney
WAYNESBURG – Last month, the Greene County Salary Board accepted the resignation of First Assistant District Attorney Linda M. Chambers, effective Dec. 19. On Thursday, the board approved the hiring of Christina DeMarco-Breeden as a full-time assistant district attorney at a salary of $42,000, effective Dec. 29.
In a related matter, the board approved the promotion of Brianna Vanata to first assistant district attorney, part time, at a salary of $40,000 a year.
DeMarco-Breeden is a Washington County native and prior to her being hired Thursday, she worked as a law clerk for Fayette County Judge Steve P. Leskinen.
She is a graduate of Ringgold High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Temple University in 2008. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2012 and was sworn into the Pennsylvania Bar in the same year. While in law school, she served as a certified legal intern in the district attorney offices of Washington and Allegheny counties. She is active in a number of organizations, including the Women’s Bar Association of Western PA, Washington County Bar Association, and Zonta Club.
She lives in Washington County with her husband, and in her free time, she enjoys lifting weights and playing and coaching volleyball.
The salary board failed to act on 3 percent pay increases for five county employees when the motion from Commissioner Chuck Morris died for lack of a second.
Commissioner Blair Zimmerman said the board’s failure to act had nothing to do with the employees’ performances. “It is a matter of procedure on how these pay increases should be awarded,” he said.
In other business, the salary board:
•Accepted the resignation of Jennifer Dickquist as a law clerk and then hired Jeffrey Thomas to fill the positon at a salary of $31,622 a year.
•Hired Jamie Maher, Rhonda Rafail and Kenneth Carlisle as part-time corrections officers at the county jail at $14.02 an hour.
•Hired Paul Tedrow as a full-time security officer with the sheriff’s department at $12.17 an hour.
•Accepted the resignations of Lindsey Fitch as a secretary with Children and Youth Services and Marci Jo Snee as a magisterial assistant.
