A former Houston man was arraigned this week on two sets of charges after he allegedly passed counterfeit money at businesses in Canton and North Strabane townships.

Edward L. Boone, 31, of Latrobe, was arraigned Thursday before District Judge David Mark on charges of forgery and theft by deception filed by state police for allegedly passing counterfeit bills at the Exxon at 1297 W. Chestnut St. in Canton. Bond was set at $25,000.

Boone was arraigned Friday before District Judge Jay Weller on charges of conspiracy and forgery filed by North Strabane police. He is accused of passing fake $20 and $50 bills at B&B Tavern, Latimer Avenue, Strabane, on April 26. Weller set bond at $10,000.

Boone was placed in Washington County Jail Wednesday on a parole violation.
