State police are reminding drivers that as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, the volume of traffic will increase.

State police are participating in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Click It or Ticket campaign starting Monday through Nov. 30, to remind drivers to buckle up. Most fatalities in crashes are attributed to unbelted motorists.

State police and the Department of Transportation hope to increase seat belt use in the state from 84 percent to 84.8 percent by the end of the year.

To kick off the campaign, state police will conduct a child safety seat check from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at Washington Auto Mall, Route 19, Strabane Square, South Strabane Township. Seats will be checked for recalls and to make sure they are properly installed.
