A Washington man was sentenced Friday in federal court to 144 months in prison after being convicted of violating federal firearms and narcotics laws.

Eric Everett, 29, of Broad Street, was accused of conspiring with others to distribute roughly five kilograms of cocaine between January 2011 and June 2012, according to a news release from the Department of Justice. Everett also was accused of possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking crime on June 28, 2012, the release said.

Everett is among 20 defendants who were charged in a large-scale cocaine scheme that was being operated between Warren, Ohio, and Washington. All 20 defendants pleaded guilty. The same investigation also resulted in the prosecution of 10 people charged in a large-scale heroin scheme that operated between Detroit and Washington. Those defendants also have pleaded guilty.

Everett will serve five years of probation upon his release from prison.
