A Washington woman was arrested Sunday night by Monongahela police after she allegedly was found with three bricks of suspected heroin during a traffic stop in New Eagle.
Pamala Hasson, 38, of 1030 Allison Ave., was charged with possession and possession with intent to deliver heroin and possession of paraphernalia, driving under the influence, tampering with evidence and traffic violations. Police said her boyfriend, Jeffrey A. Kusich, 27, of Wellsburg, W.Va., was charged with possession of paraphernalia. He was a passenger in her vehicle.
Police said Hasson was going about 46 mph in a 25-mph zone at Main and Memorial streets when she was stopped. Police said she started to get out of the vehicle. When the officer asked what she was doing, Hasson reportedly told him that they were switching drivers.
Police said when asked where the two had been, she told the officer they had been by her old house, while Kusich said they had been at a friend’s house.
Police then asked her to get out, and she left behind her purse. When police asked if it was OK to look inside, they said they saw a cap from a needle and a tourniquet. When the officer asked if she had used heroin, Hasson reportedly told them she had not, but that she took Xanax.
Police said Hasson had difficulty standing and refused to submit to a blood test at Monongahela Valley Hospital. Police said they found the three bricks of suspected heroin containing 152 stamp bags stuffed under the back seat of the car. Kusich reportedly had several empty stamp bags, and police said Hasson had about $300 stashed in her bra.
Hasson was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. The charge against Kusich was filed Monday at the office of District Judge Mark Wilson. They are scheduled for preliminary hearings Dec. 4 before Wilson.
