Greene Co. man faces child porn charges
WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg man was arrested Tuesday by agents with the state attorney general’s office on charges of possessing and distributing child pornography through a file sharing network on his computer.
Gordon Raymond Grimes, 43, of 1795 Morris St., was charged with three counts of distribution of child pornography, two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communications facility.
Grimes was arraigned before District Judge Lee Watson and placed in Greene County jail on $50,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 21.
The charges were filed by agents with the Attorney General’s Bureau of Special Investigation, Child Predator Section.
According to the criminal complaint, agents were investigating the sharing of child pornography through an “ARES” peer-to-peer network and were able to identify a computer on the network containing files known or believed to depict child pornography.
Agents identified the computer and its Internet protocol number and downloaded three video files available from the computer that contained child pornography.
The downloaded videos, the complaint said, depicted children who appear to be between the ages of 11 and 13 years old engaging in sexual acts.
The Internet service provider to which the internet protocol number was assigned was found to be Comcast Cable, the complaint said.
Agents received a court order to obtain the name of the subscriber with that Internet protocol number from Comcast. The subscriber was identified as Grimes.
Agents executed a search warrant Tuesday at Grimes’ home and found a Dell laptop computer, which Grimes said belonged to him. During questioning, Grimes admitted to the agents he had downloading child pornography, the complaint said.
During a review of the video files in the computer, agents found the three files downloaded by agents during the investigation within the list of files offered for sharing. They also found two video files that appear to depict child pornography saved on the computer.
