Theft arrest: Ew Lumon Richardson, 18, of Swissvale, was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Joshua Kanalis on charges of theft, conspiracy, unauthorized use of a vehicle and receiving stolen property. He is accused of taking the keys to a 2008 Hyundai Elantra from a dormitory room at California University of Pennsylvania and then stealing the car from the Vulcan garage Oct. 12. He was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. University police filed the charges.
Assault arrest: Aaron Anthony Astle, 44, of 1203 Upper Meadow Ave., Charleroi, was arrested early Thursday by Charleroi Regional police for allegedly choking Tricia Kauffman and punching her in the mouth during a confrontation at their home. He was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Store conned: North Franklin police said Kay’s Jewelers, Washington Crown Center, is out more than $6,000 in jewelry after a man used the identity of a Miami. Fla., man to open an account and purchase items at the store Saturday.
Car taken: Shane Pawich Sr. of 3065 Wilson St. told North Franklin police last week his black, 2012 Nissan Altima was taken without permission. Charges are pending against the woman who allegedly took the car.
Obstruction charge: Crystal L. Huber-Rizzo, 50, of Bower Hill Road, Venetia, faces a charge of obstruction of justice after township police attempted to serve a warrant Tuesday on her son at her home. Police said she told them he was not home and tried to stop them from entering. The son was found in the home.
Vehicle stolen: A black camouflage 2014 Polaris Ranger side-by-side utility vehicle owned by Weaver Express of Massillon, Ohio, was reported stolen Tuesday from a pipeline construction site off Gamelands Road near Pleasant Grove Road, South Franklin.
Four-vehicle crash: South Strabane police responded to a four-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in the 900 block of Locust Avenue. The drivers were identified as Crissy Lane of Nannie Street, South Strabane; Pamela White of 980 Road, Canonsburg; Peggy Wilson of Anchor Drive, South Strabane; and Dorothy Patterson of Barnett Street, Washington. There was no indication of injuries.
Charged in crash: Carlos Rodriguez Scott, 41, of Austen, Ga., was charged by South Strabane police with leaving the scene of a crash after he allegedly hit a utility pole and mailbox Tuesday in the 1400 block of North Main Street.
