EDINBORO – Police have been searching for a second man involved in a fatal confrontation that led authorities to lock down a state-owned university in northwestern Pennsylvania.

Twenty-one-year-old Trey Gunter, of Pittsburgh, a senior at Edinboro University, has been jailed in the drug-related shooting death of 22-year-old Tobiah Johnson, a former student.

Edinboro police say the shooting involved drugs and a stolen gun and that they were continuing to try to identify a second suspect accused of assaulting Johnson before he was fatally shot at an off-campus apartment complex.

The school was locked down for about four hours after the shooting which occurred about 6:10 p.m. Monday.

About 2,000 students live on the Edinboro campus, about 20 miles south of Erie and 110 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Gunter’s attorney hasn’t commented on the charges.
