WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg woman arrested in January in a room at the Holiday Motel where heroin was being sold pleaded guilty last week before Greene County Judge Farley Toothman to possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jessica Ann Jenkins, 27, of 112 Third St., was arrested Jan. 16 after drug task force detectives conducted a warrant search of a room at the motel and found 121 stamp bags of heroin and $6,436 in cash.

Jenkins was in the room with Lee James Wright, 34, of Washington, who pleaded guilty in August to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and other charges and was sentenced to 2 to 4 years in prison.

During the search, police found a large quantity of heroin, Wright’s identification and cash in the pocket of a red, hooded jacket in the bathroom.

Numerous syringes, spoons with heroin residue and empty stamp bags were found throughout the room.

Jenkins was found in possession of one stamp bag of heroin, a syringe and several empty stamp bags, police said.

As part of a plea agreement, the Commonwealth withdrew a charge of criminal conspiracy. Jenkins was sentenced to one year of probation, fined $300 and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service.

She also must comply with all recommended treatment and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

In another case, Tim Lee Chaney, 31, of 495 Antill Hill Road, New Freeport, pleaded guilty to simple assault and was sentenced to 2 years of probation, fined $500 and ordered to perform 75 hours of community service.

Chaney was arrested June 1 after he threatened his wife with a knife and held it to her throat. Charges of terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person were withdrawn.
