WAYNESBURG – The Eva K. Bowlby Public Library will welcome the season of joy and giving during its Holiday Open House from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3.

The Friends of the Bowlby Library will sponsor the annual cookie walk/cookie raffle. Cookies will be for sale for $3 per dozen (box container) or $5 per dozen (Christmas tin provided by the Friends) during the afternoon. Youngsters also can get a photo with Santa. Cost is $10 for two 5×7 photos. Light refreshments will be served, and patrons can also enjoy live seasonal music.

Also, the library’s mascot, Fetch, is inviting young patrons to bring their stuffed animal friends to the library that evening for Fetch’s first ever stuffed animal sleepover.

Children and their stuffed pets will enjoy a story time beginning at 5 p.m. that will include holiday stories, crafts, snacks and tucking the animal friends in for the night in a special shoebox bed made by their “owners.”

Patrons must bring an empty shoebox with them Dec. 3. Once the children have said goodbye, Fetch and his new friends will enjoy an evening of holiday merriment, which may or may not include sleeping. The stuffed animals may be picked up the following day between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the children’s department.

Raffle tickets also are on sale now for one of two cookie raffle baskets or a children’s holiday basket. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and can be purchased through Dec. 3 at the library. All proceeds from cookie sales/ticket sales will benefit the library.

All the open house events are free and open to the public. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Bowlby Library.
