The state Department of Transportation announced plans to close both the inbound and outbound Parkway West (Interstate 376) on different days and restrict traffic to a single lane on the side that is not closed.
Work will be done, weather permitting, between the Interstate 79 and Greentree interchanges.
The outbound side will be closed from 2 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday with single lane closures on the inbound side. The inbound lanes will be closed between 10 p.m. Saturday to 2 p.m. Sunday.
Traffic will be detoured. Signs will be posted to guide motorists. The posted detour routes will require motorists to form a single lane on the parkway when exiting. Police will be posted at key intersections along the detour to keep traffic moving.
Crews will conduct paving, barrier removal, line painting and other work. When the work is done this weekend, the on and off ramps at the Carnegie interchange will reopen. Lanes on the parkway will be restored to the 12-foot width.
The parkway will remain in this configuration until work resumes in March.
Significant delays should be expected. Drivers should consider alternate routes.
