Pipes, fuel stolen: State police said 20 clamps, steel pipes and 200 gallons of off-road diesel fuel were stolen Monday from Union Pipeline, 1137 Jolly School Road, Buffalo.
Accidentally shot: Clayton Crawford, 23, of 4 Hillcrest Ave., Burgettstown, was taken to Weirton (W.Va.) Medical Center Wednesday after he accidentally shot himself in the left index finger while cleaning his rifle. Crawford told police he forgot to see if it was unloaded. He was treated and released.
Two arraigned: Two people wanted on warrants in Tuesday’s drug sweep were arraigned Thursday after turning themselves in to police. Brian Smocynski, 33, and Amey Smocynski, 35, both of 412 Giffin Ave., Canonsburg, were each arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and released on $25,000 unsecured bond. He is charged with possession and possession with intent to deliver heroin. She is charged with possession of paraphernalia and prostitution.
Drug charges: Nolan Threlkeld, 19, of Evans Drive, McMurray, was arraigned Thursday on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with a March marijuana purchase in a Cavasina Drive parking lot, Canonsburg police said. Police said Threlkeld was also in possession of marijuana “wax,” a concentrated form of the drug. Threlkeld, whose warrant was among those in Tuesday’s sweep by borough police, was released on his own recognizance.
One hurt: One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash early Thursday on Route 88, near Gillis Road, state police said. A car driven by Bruce E. Peroney, 61, of Charleroi, stopped and was hit by a truck behind it driven by Chad R. Gradwell, 28, of Apollo. A passenger in Peroney’s vehicle, Michael Opalenik, 57, of Smithton, had a minor injury.
Theft, receiving charges: Samuel Heaton, 46, of 106 First St., Monongahela, was arrested Thursday by Monongahela police for allegedly stealing the aluminum tubing attachment for the city’s leaf collection machine. A street department crew was collecting leaves Nov. 13 and had the attachment left on the side of the road. When the crew returned, it was gone. Police learned Heaton had sold it that same day at Monongahela Iron and Metal Works. He was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson on charges of theft and receiving stolen property. He was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Drug charges: Autumn R. Filkorn, 34, of 122 Ross St., Houston, was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Jay Weller on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver heroin. The Washington County Drug Task Force charged her after she allegedly sold 10 stamp bags to a confidential informant on March 5 in a parking lot off Racetrack Road, North Strabane. She was released on her own recognizance.
Trespass, theft charges: Seth Skariot, 21, of 2035 Route 136, Eighty Four, and Elijah A. Hilderbrand, 29, of 128 Statement Ave., South Strabane Township, were charged last week by North Strabane police with conspiracy, criminal trespass and theft. They are accused of stealing parts from an antique saw mill last week on Munce Road. Hilderbrand, who is in Washington County jail on other charges, was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Jay Weller who set bond at $5,000. Charges against Skariot will be sent by summons.
Marijuana possession: Ryan Lee Duritza, 20, of 301 Mary Lane, North Strabane, was charged Wednesday by North Strabane police with possession of marijuana and purchase or consumption of alcohol by a minor stemming from a June 13 adult probation compliance check at 1206 Pioneer Trail. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Theft charge: Willard Tucker, 79, of Fairmont, W.Va., was charged last week by state police at The Meadows Casino with theft of lost of mislaid property. He is accused of taking a $42 voucher from a lost wallet and cashing it in Oct. 20. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Mischief charge: Brian Burch, 39, of Clairton, was charged Tuesday by North Strabane police with criminal mischief. He is accused of smashing windows in a screen door and kitchen door as well as the living room window at the home of Timothy Johnson, 226 Latimer Ave., Strabane, Nov. 9. The charge was sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Vehicle overturns: Nicholas Matthews, 29, of Churchill Road, McMurray, was driving east on Justabout Road about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday when his car went off the road, struck a tree and rolled over, township police said. Matthews sustained facial lacerations and a bloody nose. Police said he was driving above the posted speed limit because he may have been on his way to the scene of a fire.
Assault, harassment charges: Jessica Lynn Farmer, 26, of 455 Broad St., Washington, was charged Monday by South Strabane police with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. She is accused of pushing Vickie King down the steps at a home at 1715 Morris St. Nov. 8. Farmer also allegedly punched King and pulled her hair. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Retail theft charge: Christina Odom, 21, of 811 Old West Road, Bentleyville, was charged Monday by South Strabane police with retail theft after she allegedly stole $350.81 in items from Wal-Mart, Trinity Point, Nov. 8. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Charged in theft: Danielle Gordon, 32, of 228 Oak St., Washington, was charged Monday by South Strabane police with retail theft. She is accused of stealing items valued at $553.79 from Gabriel Bros., Northgate Plaza, Nov. 6. The charge was sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Guard assaulted: Vendell Nasir III, 21, of North Franklin Township, was arraigned from Allegheny County jail on a charge of aggravated assault for allegedly assaulting a Washington County corrections officer Dec. 4, 2012. He is accused of attacking Corrections Officer Andrew Taylor as he removed handcuffs and shackles after returning Nasir to his cell. District Judge Robert Redlinger set bond at $20,000.
Paraphernalia charge: Gail Virginia Smith, 33, of 595 Maple Ave., Washington, was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Robert Redlinger on a charge of drug paraphernalia after she was charged by a Washington County sheriff’s deputy stemming from a Oct. 29 incident in the 600 block of Penn Avenue. She was released on $10,000 unsecured bond.
Resisting, escape charges: Anthony Young of Leechburg was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of resisting arrest, escape and false identification after allegedly running from state police during an April 5 traffic stop on East Maiden Street. He was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Drug charges: John Wender, 21, of 77 N. East St., Waynesburg, and Cody Watozychyn, 20, of 673 Castle Ridge Road, Waynesburg, were charged by Washington police after officers received a complaint about two men shooting heroin at McDonald’s, 995 Jefferson Ave., Wednesday. Wender will be charged with possession of paraphernalia while Watozychyn will be charged with possession of heroin and disorderly conduct.
Harassment charges: Aaron Moore and Shawn O’Donnell will be charged with harassment stemming from a confrontation Wednesday in their apartment at 1276 Sycamore St.
Woman asssaulted: Robbie Lynn Sands, 33, of Canonsburg told Washington police Wednesday she was choked by a man and woman who got out of a vehicle near the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Third Street.
Wheel stolen: Roberta Findling, of 801 Duncan Ave., told Washington police Thursday that a wheel was stolen from her vehicle which was left sitting on cinder blocks.
Firearms charge: Joseph Allen Shumar, 26, of Fredericktown, was charged this week with a firearms volation by state police after he allegedly tried to purchase a gun at Wal-Mart, knowing he was prohibited from doing so. The charge will proceed by summons from the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
