The preliminary hearings for two Greene County men arrested by the state Attorney General’s office this week on unrelated charges involving minors have been continued.
Joshua W. Porterfield, 24, of Dilliner, is charged with using Facebook to solicit sex and exchange sexually explicit photographs with at least two minors.
Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane announced Tuesday Porterfield was arrested following an investigation by her Child Predator Section, local police and the first girl’s high school.
According to the criminal complaint, the investigation began when administrators at the Greene County high school contacted local police about Porterfield communicating with a student through Facebook and allegedly sending the minor a nude image of himself via Snapchat.
The second victim said Porterfield picked her up in September, knowing she was 15 years old, drove her to another location and the two engaged in sex acts in Porterfield’s vehicle.
The child reported three similar occasions in the weeks that followed, including one encounter where Porterfield took her to his Dilliner home.
He is charged with two counts of unlawful contact with a minor, one count of involuntary deviate intercourse, one count of statutory sexual assault, one count of aggravated indecent assault, one count of corruption of minors, one count of criminal use of a communications facility and one count of indecent assault.
In the second unrelated matter, Gordon Raymond Grimes, 43, of 1795 Morris St., was charged with three counts of distribution of child pornography, two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communications facility.
According to the criminal complaint, agents with the Attorney General’s Bureau of Special Investigation, Child Predator Section, were investigating the sharing of child pornography through an “ARES” peer-to-peer network and were able to identify a computer on the network containing files known or believed to depict child pornography.
Agents identified the computer and its Internet protocol number and downloaded three video files available from the computer that contained child pornography.
The downloaded videos, the complaint said, depicted children who appear to be between the ages of 11 and 13 years old engaging in sexual acts.
The Internet service provider to which the Internet protocol number was assigned was found to be Comcast Cable, the complaint said.
Agents received a court order to obtain the name of the subscriber with that Internet protocol number from Comcast. The subscriber was identified as Grimes.
A new hearing date for Grimes has not been scheduled. Porterfield’s hearing will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 18. Both men will appear before Greene County Magisterial District Judge Lee Watson.
