GLENSHAW, Pa. (AP) — Police say one person is dead after a detached truck tire bounded across a Pittsburgh highway and smashed into an oncoming car.

Investigators say the tire came from a Ford F-450 with a tarp-covered trailer that was heading southbound on Route 28 in Shaler Township around 11 a.m. Friday.

Traffic was redirected as emergency crews responded to the highway.

They say the F-450 returned to the area a short time later.
