WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce is reminding residents and organizations the entry deadline for the 2014 Downtown Waynesburg Christmas Parade is Tuesday.

Registration entries will be accepted before Nov. 25 with an entry fee of $20 per unit, but no entries after Nov. 25 or the day of parade will be accepted.

Anyone wishing to participate in the parade, scheduled for 2 p.m. Dec. 6, who did not receive an application, is asked to call the chamber office at 724-627-5926 or visit www.waynesburgchamber.com to register for the event.

Miss Rain Day 2014 Morgan Voithofer and the chamber’s 2014 Distinguished Service Award winners, the Rev. Dr. Donald P. Wilson, Ed and Sandy Zeglen and members of Patriot’s Dream Riding Association, will have the honor of leading the parade down High Street as its grand marshals. Voithofer will also open the parade by singing the National Anthem.

Also, once again, WCYJ Television from Waynesburg College will be videotaping the parade for a later broadcast on local stations. WCYJ is a student-operated television station under the direction of Bill Molzon.

Residents living around the college and parks are reminded that line-up will begin in that area at noon on parade day. Several streets will be blocked off to traffic not associated with the parade starting at noon and ending at 3:30 p.m. Route 19 traffic also will be detoured during those hours.

High Street, from McCracken’s Pharmacy to the First Baptist Church, will close beginning at 2 p.m. and will remain closed through the end of the parade. A detour route will be available.
