MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) – A United Mine Workers of America spokesman said the union is working with a Patriot Coal Co. subsidiary to resolve issues at a Monongalia County mine.

UMW spokesman Phil Smith told The Dominion Post union members are continuing to work at Eastern Associated Coal’s Federal No. 2 mine. He said the union is in talks with the company.

Union workers at the mine went on strike in mid-October. A federal judge issued a temporary restraining order halting the work stoppage.

Earlier this month, U.S. District Judge Irene Keeley granted Eastern’s requests to withdraw its motion for the temporary restraining order and to cancel a hearing.
