State street crimes unit wraps up in Harrisburg

HARRISBURG (AP) – A seven-month-long surge of law enforcement work led by the attorney general’s office has run its course in Harrisburg, yielding more than 200 arrests and new intelligence on gangs and drug trafficking networks.
Attorney General Kathleen Kane said Monday that the mobile street crimes unit made 239 arrests, executed hundreds of controlled drug buys and investigated violent crimes. She says it concluded with a two-week sweep by 150 agents from a dozen law enforcement agencies to serve warrants.
The operation was the second by the street crimes unit after initially getting funding last year. Its first operation was in Hazleton.
Participating agencies included local police departments, U.S. marshals and parole agents.
The attorney general’s street crimes unit will move on to another undisclosed city.
