WAYNESBURG – A Greene County Court jury acquitted a Hundred, W.Va., man of simple assault Monday at a trial before Greene County Judge William Nalitz.

Robert F. Bowman, 50, was charged based on a private criminal complaint filed by James Wheeler of Metz, W.Va.

Wheeler claimed Bowman hit him in the face March 12 at a well site off Porter Street in Franklin Township where they both worked. Wheeler said Bowman blamed him for long hours and other work conditions and hit him in the face, causing a laceration.

The jury deliberated for about 20 minutes before finding Bowman not guilty of the charge.
