Route 18 expected to reopen today
Henderson Avenue was expected to be open to traffic again this morning after a tractor-trailer struck a utility pole Monday, shearing the pole and bringing down wires across the busy road.
Crews for West Penn Power repaired the broken pole and replaced the wires Monday night, company spokeswoman Diane Holder said, but other utility lines were hanging too low across the road and needed to be raised.
Crews expected to complete that work along Route 18 between Jefferson and Summerlea avenues by late Tuesday night.
