WAYNESBURG – A 72-year-old Waynesburg man accused of indecently assaulting a young girl during a 16-year period ending in December 2011 was acquitted Wednesday by a Greene County jury.
Frank D. Robinson of 861 Ridge Road was charged by state police with inappropriately touching the girl between May 1, 1995, and Dec. 31, 2011. The girl, who is now 18 years old, was between the ages of 5 and 7 at the time of the alleged assaults.
The trial before Judge William Nalitz began Tuesday and concluded Wednesday morning. The jury deliberated about an hour before finding Robinson not guilty of charges of indecent assault and corruption of a minor.
Robinson also was acquitted in September on similar charges involving another young girl, who was between the ages of 10 and 12 when she was allegedly assaulted. At the time of trial, she was 28.
State police filed the charges against Robinson Sept. 3, 2003, after the two women came to them with similar accusations.
In a criminal complaint, police said a 16-year-old female came to the station to report Robinson had engaged in inappropriate behavior with her at various times when she was between the ages of 5 and 7, touching her inappropriately, talking about sexual matters and twice offering to buy her sex toys.
Police said they interviewed a second woman. She, too, alleged Robinson, at various times, inappropriately touched her when she was between 10 and 12 years old.
