Food bank hoping hunters share the harvest

WAYNESBURG – Hunters Sharing the Harvest is Pennsylvania’s venison donation program designed to help feed people who are having a hard time making ends meet.

And Corner Cupboard Food Bank, Greene County’s main food bank, is participating again this year.

Consol Energy is picking up the entire processing fee. All meat will stay in Greene County that is processed through the Hungarian Smokehouse. Meat will be distributed through the 11 community pantry sites in Greene County.

To donate your deer, drop it off at the Hungarian Smokehouse, 534 N. Eighty Eight Road, Carmichaels, or contact them at 724-966-7704.

Community pantry sites supported by Corner Cupboard are Aleppo-Richhill Township Pantry, Center Township Pantry, Cumberland Township Pantry, Franklin Township/Waynesburg Pantry, Jackson Township Pantry, Jefferson Morgan Township Pantry, Mon-Greene Township Pantry, Springhill-Freeport Township Pantry, Wayne Township Pantry and Whiteley-Perry Township Pantry.
