Civic Club recognizes students
CARMICHAELS – Stephanie Mitchell and Molly Roberts, seniors at Carmichaels Area High School, were named Girls of the Month for September and October, respectively, by Carmichaels Area Women’s Civic Club.
Mitchell, daughter of James and Rebecca Mitchell, Carmichaels, is a member of the National Honor Society, student council, chorus, choral ensemble, senior standing committee, SADD, ski club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and is captain of the varsity cheerleading squad.
She attended Westinghouse Science Honors Institute and helps organize the district’s yearly “Pink Out” for cancer.
Outside of school, she is a member of St. Hugh Catholic Church, where she is a vacation Bible school volunteer. She has helped organize toy drives and distribute toys through Toys for Tots, helped promote, organize and participate in Children’s Hospital Book Drive, and is a 15-year dance student at the Tricia Ricco Dance Studio.
Mitchell plans to study biology/pre-med and pursue a career in the medical field.
Roberts, a daughter of Georgie Stotka and Dustin Roberts, Crucible Road, Rices Landing.
She is a member of the National Honor Society, captain of the girls’ basketball team, chorus, ladies ensemble, a band section leader, SADD, student council, senior standing committee, ski club, drama club and student tutoring.
Outside of school, she is involved in musical theater at the Center of Performing Arts and summer league basketball, and volunteers at a day care and personal care home.
Roberts plans to attend West Virginia University, study pre-med and then continue on to medical school for neurology, specializing in neuromuscular distrophy.
