Police: Man attempted homicide with tractor
A Greene County man faces attempted homicide charges after allegedly striking another man with a farm tractor Wednesday afternoon in Washington Township.
State police in Waynesburg said Frank P. Oleary, 59, of 1101 Garner Run Road, went after Robert Clay when Clay was driving his truck onto a gas well access road on Oleary’s property.
Witnesses told police they were following Clay onto the property in a separate truck when Oleary rammed the rear of a second truck with a Kubota tractor.
The truck stopped and Oleary allegedly drove around the vehicle, cursing and yelling “I will kill you” to Clay, according to the criminal complaint filed with Greene County District Judge Lee Watson.
Witnesses said Oleary struck Clay with the bucket of the tractor, pinning him against the driver’s side of his truck, before exiting the tractor and striking Clay in the face several times, according to the complaint.
Police said Clay suffered a “significant laceration and bleeding” from his arm. He was taken from the scene by ambulance to Washington Hospital and later transferred to a Pittsburgh trauma center because of the extent of his injury.
There is no indication in the criminal complaint regarding what may have initiated the alleged attack.
State police filed charges of attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats and criminal mischief against Oleary.
He is being held in Greene County jail on $100,000 straight cash bond.
A preliminary hearing in the matter is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursdaybefore Watson.
