The Oak View United Methodist Church will observe Laity Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. worship this week. Guest speaker will be Chad Teagarden. There will be special music by the Chancel Choir directed by Pam Hall and a duet by Shay and Bailey Echegaray. Other participants are Michelle, Daniel and David Blosser and Harland Headlee. Everyone is welcome.
Southwestern Pennsylvania Water Authority will flush fire hydrants in Franklin and Jefferson townships and Jefferson Borough Monday through Friday. Customers in those areas may experience a drop in pressure or discolored water.
Cornerstone Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the log courthouse on Greene Street. Clayton Kilgore of Washington will talk on Native Amerians of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Tickets for the November dinner meeting will be available. The public is welcome.
Jefferson Baptist Church, 179 Pine St., Jefferson, is offering monthly support group meetings for friends and relatives of those who suffer from substance abuse of any kind. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the church basement. The meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at the same time. Springhill Township will hold its annual fall cleanup days Oct. 18 and 19. All members of the community can drop off any items except batteries and normal household trash.
